Starting the Day with Water
Good morning! It all starts with a glass of water. When you wake up from sleeping hydration signals the body to get ready for greater fitness and wellness.
Wander around, use your full senses to take in the environment. Locate a journal, pen, and place to roll out your fitness mat. Now bring your attention to the most important home you’ll ever live in, your own body.
Notice if there are areas on the outside of your body sending up a signal. If so, take a note describing the area and sensation. Have a seat on a yoga block, bolster, or three folded blankets (if possible, you want to be seated lower than the average size household chair, yet not quite seated on the floor). Bring your attention inward. Notice any areas inside of your body sending up a signal. If so, take a note describing the area and sensation.
Bookend every Pilates practice by drinking water and journaling. After practice, take note of your progressions! Please share these with me in Private Appointments. I like to journal to tend patterns of movement I teach as well as for shining a light on concepts to share here. Last night I carefully wrote down around 55 patterns of movement while thinking of all of the clients I work with these days. I woke up this morning and spilled coffee all over it. I actually felt excited to write it out again and achieved a greater variety of exercise that day. This is the mind body connection at play.
